Juuni Taisen Episode 6: Back to business

Looks like we're finally splitting the difference in this episode. I really should have noticed when they mentioned that betting would begin once 6 warriors remained that episode 6 would be a good point for a series of deaths. There's a decent amount of variance in this show, but it sticks to its patterns, I guess.

Anyway, I'm not sure if there just wasn't enough time this week, but I'm finding the backgrounds that they're showing us to be less interesting as the show moves forward. Sure, it's interesting that Horse literally juiced himself into an armored tank, but I didn't really feel like I got enough of a sense of why he did it.

Deaths in this series continue to be incredibly anticlimactic. Horse's death was actually funny since Snake was probably targeting Rat, but Monkey and Sheep just kinda died.

On the positive side, though, I'm really fascinated by how Rat is introduced and developed. I thought this week's episode was strangely casual about suggesting that he seems to know too much. It takes advantage of the fact that Horse's inner monologue sounds like "speech" to us, the audience, to mask the fact that Rat is responding to his thoughts.

This was funnier than I was expecting it to be.
