Kino no Tabi Episodes 4-5: Nothing but lies

I had trouble really getting into episode 4, so I left it alone last week. Episode 5 was pretty interesting, though. It's not that I have a problem with Shizu in particular, but I didn't find the ship country that interesting. Also, I didn't fully follow the ending, both Ti's actions and Kino's final comments.

I get that it was supposed to be a reference to the ignorance of the masses masked by their national pride (represented with a literal sinking ship). Maybe I just prefer the way that Kino does things. Shizu's attempt did kinda blow up in his face. It could also have to do with my general lack of national pride, but that doesn't seem relevant...

On the other hand, I felt like I had a much better handle on episode 5, especially with the second half of the episode. Maybe it was just a lot more obvious, but I was able to guess that the housekeeper was the "lost" princess. That being said, I absolutely didn't expect the final reveal at the end that the crazy guy wasn't crazy. It was a neat twist and I liked that it was immediately followed with the title of "Country of Liars".

I don't want to discredit the first part of the episode as well. Both stories in this episode really led me to believe that Kino would step in, but she only gave a mild suggestion to the kid in the first country. I also liked the concept of the country revering a traveller who was not too different from Kino. It was a neat presentation of the idea that we never want to meet our heroes, because the truth is often less glamorous.
