elDLIVE First Impressions (1): Took the bait

Well, I said I'd check this show out, so I ended up watching it. Overall, the episode was...a bit rough. I felt like there were too many moments in the show where I didn't really understand or like what was going on (most of it is pointed out lower down in the post).

I get the feeling I came into this series knowing too little. I probably should not have been as surprised with the episode as I ended up being. I'm guessing I won't continue writing posts about this show, but I might keep watching to see where it goes. I guess the alien bit could be interesting, but I don't know really have a great grasp where it's going.

So they're hiding one of the faces in this introductory cast, which means that she's likely someone already linked to the life of the main character and probably brings him into the organization.

The teacher asks who Chuuta is talking to like he doesn't already know about his habit of talking to himself.

I take back what I said at the beginning of the episode...I didn't expect them to make it so obvious.

There's a lot of exposition here. Chuuta's situation is more interesting than the synopsis of the series made it sound, but most of this stuff was obvious from the earlier scene in the home ec room. As for this flashback, it looks supernatural, but I can't help wondering if he just led his friends off a cliff or something because he wasn't paying attention or was listening to the voice.

This had better be important.

Edit: Apparently this is a reference to Katekyo Hitman Reborn, which I'm just now finding out was written by the same person.

Yup yup, sure. Run that by me again?

Also, this name makes sound like they were going for "L DRIVE".

I'm wondering the same thing...must have something to do with his inner voice, but still. It's eventually revealed that he was chosen by some supercomputer for the job. How does it work? Not important. There's probably going to be a big scene down the road where they tell him "they saw greatness in him all along" or whatever.

Casually threatening to kill him.

Given how few characters we've seen so far, the likeliest candidate is the teacher. But that's probably stating the obvious.

I can't believe this works...

It's literally the climax of the episode and they break off to explain "monitaliens". Are you for real?

This is so vague. I mean, if it's indicating that the show will follow Chuuta as he figures out each type of alien and what its weak point is, I guess it could work.

Definitely some rough edges on this first episode (and I missed the Reborn reference to given I haven't watched that anime). And yeah, those instructions on how to beat the alien are incredibly vague. Does that mean he could just visualise a giant rock from outer space crushing it because that would be a pretty much unbeatable move in most fights.

the only reason i caught it was because i thought the scene would be important and was curious why it wasnt. and yeah, that power's gonna need some explanation
