Shuumatsu no Izetta Episode 2: Woohoo dogfights!

Well, I'm interested enough that I want to keep going with this one. The second episode managed to reel me in.

So, now that we've rescued the princess, how exactly do Izetta's powers work? She didn't need to use her blood to enchant the rifle, but she did it to fire the ice shards. Does she need to transfer part of her body to whatever she's targeting with magic?

Do people actually talk like this or was this someone's attempt at making "could have been worse" sound fancy?

Izetta uses this to decide whether she can fight, so...is this her mana bar? If so, that's awesome.

Urgh...I really enjoy watching dogfights. And there's something familiar about the music playing in the background that makes this scene even better.

I appreciate the fact that they added the small scene earlier where Fine notices Izetta's reaction to killing one of the pilots...it gives this scene more meaning.

Nooooooo! But we really bonded with that rifle!

Funny you should mention that...

She's the chosen one! I'm curious how the witches died out...was it natural? Did they just stop trying to reproduce?

Love triangle! (maybe?)

Mana charge complete?

Magic weapon reporting for duty!

This second episode confirmed I'm definitely keeping this one this season. I'm still not entirely sold on magic in WW2 (no matter what names they give things) but I'm invested enough in the characters and wanting to know what they do next that I'm sticking with it.
I'm also curious to know about how the magic works. So far it was interesting trying to guess but some explanations somewhere down the line would be nice.
