Tales of Zestiria Final Episode (12): Not that bad for a game adaptation

Aww...no skit this week. That's a shame. Well, at least we didn't end on a cliffhanger, right? Thinking back, the game really did have a good stopping point built into the story with the encounter with the Lord of Calamity in the middle of the game, so this ending just...makes sense. Though I guess they had to pull some strings to get Dezel and Rose in the story.

Oh hey...haven't seen you since the first episode.

Come on, Sorey. At least armatize before attacking him...

Thanks, Lailah...that's really helpful. Also, spooky ghosts!

This looks really convincing...but Rose's next line ("don't die") makes me think Alisha's fine.

Ahh yes...the "get stronger so I can have a better fight" bad guy excuse for leaving the main character alive.

Rose can hear Dezel? I don't remember that being a thing...and it doesn't really make sense.

Do people just not know about the Lord of Calamity? If the "malevolence of the world" was all in one spot, I'm pretty sure the first thing I'd guess is that it's the guy behind all of the malevolence.

Aaaaaaand Alisha's just gone now, right? Relegated to handling politics?

Also, I know what the squire pact is from playing the game...was this explained in the series? It's actually pretty surprising that both of these characters seem to understand what it means. It's weird that Sorey offers to make Alisha a squire right after she suggested that she would be spending her time in Ladylake.

Wait...they're really splitting up? What was the point of the squire pact?

Who thought translating the line into a single word like this was a good idea?

Uhh...this feels like a good moment for "yes, Sorey...let the hate flow through you".

Meh...here I was hoping for something interesting from Sorey. But nah...

Final Score: 7 out of 10

I hope the guys responsible for subbing this show get fired. They've been awful

Yeah no, squire pact thing just kind of happened with no explanation. It's fine though, those of us who have no idea just put it down to more weird stuff that may or may not be relevant later and we'll figure it out. the story hasn't exactly been complicated so these odd moments that we're supposed to understand just kind of give us something to wonder about. I was also kind of hoping that Sorey might gain a bit of depth as a character but apparently he is going to remain in bland protagonist mode for the duration.
    Thanks for your thoughts.

yeah, that's fair. i was surprised about the squire thing because im pretty sure in the game it just meant they could fight with sorey in the party

sorey as a character is so depressing to me...
