Tales of Zestiria Episode 8: The power of dragons

This series has been strangely focused on dragons ever since the prologue. Given the fact that this series may end with just 12 episodes, I'm curious what ending they're building towards. Story-wise, it still feels like we're on track (just with different sequencing), but I just wonder whether we're going more for a "defeat the dragon" ending or the actual "defeat the Lord of Calamity" ending. And a random side question: wasn't Zaveid more nuts in the game?

I'm still not sure how I feel about Mikleo being off doing his own thing, but I think this week's episode makes me more confident that he's handled better than he was in the game. Sorey isn't giving the annoying "I'm trying to keep you out to protect you" line and Mikleo is portrayed as mature enough to take the risks to help Sorey.

How to make an entrance.

This entrance, on the other hand, just ticks me off.

To be fair, there's something...interesting about Zaveid's background music. The notes halt in ways that make it harder to figure out the pattern. I can't tell whether I think it's good or bad.

Ahh...the pronoun game. Everyone loves it, right? Let's wait a few seconds on the dramatic reveal that the dragon is actually Edna's brother Eizen. Don't need to say it now.

Sorey just stands here like an idiot. At least prepare for an attack like you expect Lailah to give you the power you requested.

This dialogue chain doesn't make sense. Sorey claims that he somehow knew the dragon that was here was not the same dragon that attacked Ladylake even before seeing the dragon here. How could he have known that? Do frightened villagers give accurate descriptions of dragons or something?

Aaaand you recognized him using some Seraphim aura recognition magic that we don't need to know about...or used a Magic Lens.

Even armatized, I'm surprised Sorey isn't dead yet.

Oh...those are the "there's still hope" eyes. Are they actually going to save Eizen?

Doesn't she need a Divine Artifact?

...I actually wouldn't be surprised if this was true.

Haha this is pretty nice.

Yeah, everyone loves Edna. Even me, and I haven't played any of the Tales games.

The show might be fixated on dragons but given it's the first fantasy I've watched for awhile with dragons that hasn't been a complete mess, it will do. That and some of these characters are actually kind of nice even if the plot is a little all over the shop.
The rules do seem a little inconsistent at times about how things work (or don't work) and there's a lot that seems to rely on you having prior knowledge so those of us in the dark are just having to roll our eyes and assume it will make sense later.
    Thanks for sharing.

it's probably the curse of game adaptations...
