Mayoiga Episode 2: The village of dreams

The moving parts of this "creepy tune" are pretty standard for a horror movie, but the long synthesizer parts are really annoying.

Fair point...though I would have just stuck with "it's way too foggy outside" rather than using the unlit road as an excuse (you have headlights for a reason).

Translation: "I was only created as a character to add tension to the group, so I need you guys to hate me as much as possible".

"Flickering lights in a horror series" cliche.

This entire conversation was meant to really hammer home the idea that they're giving their old lives up to start over in the village, but it doesn't seem right. Even if you add up the cash on hand for all of these people, would it really be enough to reimburse the cost of leaving a bus stranded out here? I mean...they'll have to replace the bus, right?

Why even give him money if you're just going to blackmail him like this?

One of two things happens here: either 1) the bus driver is the first victim and he dies here or 2) the bus driver sees something that frightens him enough to join the group. My guess is the second one because the group probably isn't going back to find his dead body unless he randomly screams in the next scene.

I'm surprised the feminist character lets this line slide.

Don't people normally say "speak English" instead of "talk in English"? I wasn't sure if this was done purposely because they're kids.

Uhh...what?

I don't care if there's a footprint. There's no way only one person would have noticed a giant bear. You would hear something before anyone saw it.

Hey, this is a common horror series trope too. "Watching the main cast from the eyes of the stalking creature/murderer/whatever hiding at a distance".

Haha nice joke, Lion. Totally no way that's true, right? DON'T BE ABSURD!

Anyway, this entire scene is meant to illustrate that they expected a bustling village when they arrived, which begs the question. Did they really think the villagers would just take them in? I mean...an insulated village like this would probably be wary of outsiders, right?

I mean...it was pretty obviously rust, right? Someone just established that this village has been abandoned for a year. Why would you make it ambiguous by saying it was "stained red"? You're basically asking for the misinterpretation.

Yup, totally agreed.

"Time to do something bad" face.

...he actually says this to her...

Also, it sucks to be Maimai, right? If the protagonist isn't in love with you, it must mean you're going to be one of the earlier victims!

So he's just not going to mention what he saw in his bus? I mean, I'm not too surprised, but it's still annoying. Either he's going to give a silly reason later like "I was embarrassed that I got scared" or he's THE CULPRIT (or something like that).

Yeah, totally! Wait, what?

The black guy's really going to die first in the horror story? They're really hitting all of the points on the horror story checklist, are they?

Next week is when all of the fun begins, right?
