World Trigger First Impressions (1): That was pretty shiny...

This series interested me because of the few chapters of the manga I read. The story revolves around an invasion from another world by beings known as Neighbors, with the only defense being agents from an organization known as Border. The main character, Yuma Kuga, is one of these Neighbors who runs into a trainee in Border, Osamu Mikumo.

It always struck me as an interesting premise, but the manga ended up going in a completely different direction than what I was expecting and I found it hard to follow. I guess we'll see how this one goes. I know I don't notice animation stuff that much, but was it really necessary to have so much sparkling when the trigger was turned on? In comparison, Yuma's transformation is vastly superior in my eyes because of its simplicity.

I'm pretty disappointed with the opening got my hopes up with the way it starts, but then the music takes a completely pop-style turn that really annoyed me. That coupled with excessive autotune makes it a very sub-par song. The rest of the music in the show was really cool, though...Kawai Kenji was the composer for Gundam 00 as well and I really enjoy his soundtracks. I feel like I have a bit of a tough choice with series, but it's likely I'll keep covering it. The main reason it interested me was Osamu...I was always curious whether he would actually turn out to be a decent fighter or whether he would always be background noise.
