Log Horizon Episode 9: World domination!

That was kind of a convoluted plan. I guess the alternative I can think of would have been to draw Hamelin out of the guild hall somehow and then immediately blacklist them, which would port them to the Cathedral. Also, letting the new players die should have also ported them to the Cathedral. Of course, these plans have their points of weakness too. They both have the possibility of leaving someone behind if they're not careful (especially since they didn't have Schrieder's name).

Anyway, the kids are free and it looks like Shiroe is starting to impose some law on Akihabara. Life should theoretically start getting better for the other players. But I'm assuming Log Horizon has some issues of its own in the future. For example, what's stopping someone else from just buying the property Shiroe now owns? I know that getting that much money is difficult, but with proper farming...

IMHO, the property system work like a MMO

In some games, a player buy from the game a property and need pay a manteinance tax forever or the property return to game for be sold again. In some games, the player can sell to other players the property.

So, while Shiroe pays the manteinance, he will not lose the Guild building. However, some games don't have the mantainance tax, and if that is the case with Elder Tales the property will be forever owned by Shiroe. The habitants of Akiba too will be owned forever...

There is a thing too you need note, and IMHO we see next episode, the owner of a property can create a tax for everyone enter the area. So, Shiroe can tax all players of Akiba for use the Guild Hall. Well, there is no government without tax, and Overlord Megane Shiroe need you pay your taxes for build a better Akiba.

For the preview of next week episode, I think they are closing this arc. So, next arc starts by episode 11 and we will see interesting things happening. Some big Lord of the Rings battles around episode 15...

When Elder Tales was a game, the Guild Hall was not for sale. Something changed when the Apocalypse happened and pratically all world is for sale now.

Shiroe was just the first one to see the implications and sucessfull bought the Guild Hall. Next episode, when Shiroe explain what he want, we will see that Shiroe too was the first to see a lot of other implications, and how much the fact the NPC are now human is important.

Take note that other changes happened (the next arc will show it, but if NPC now are inteligent, monstor too can be?) and that maybe they are not "trapped in a game". By the way, the volume 3 e 4 of light novel is titled "The End of the Game" for that reason: players finally understand they are not in a game...

Maybe you will need change the tag for this series from "trapped in a game" for "not trapped in a game". :p

...what if Nyanta is actually working for the cat overlords and he plans to betray Log Horizon to return to his people? (killing Serara in the process)

I think it is more probable the cat overlords are working for Shiroe, the "Villain in Glasses". He controls the supply of tuna... and don't care if some aquatic mammals die in the process.

By the way, /spoiler the next villains will be the goblins. The Goblin War will start. /end spoiler

And that happens when NPC and mobs start to think for themselves...
