Fall Season 2012 Preliminary Thoughts

Well, this season should be fun...mostly because I'll be a grad student and hold a job...and do my usual blog posting. I hate my life. But that aside, there are a lot of anticipated titles in this season and I'm hoping it goes well. As you know, I can't cover everything, but I certainly watch almost every show. But if you want to talk about that, you're gonna have to find me some other way (for example, Skype or Twitter usernames marthaurion). Let's get started. All my thoughts are based off the chart above (not big on watching previews).

  • Kyousogiga - It's not a regularly-released show, so I won't cover it. If someone convinces me to watch it, then I will...otherwise, I think I'm safe to ignore it.
  • Battle Spirits: Sword Eyes - No...just...no...
  • Shin Sekai Yori - Futuristic utopian society...WHAT COULD GO WRONG? Well, I wanna see...I'm intrigued. Telekinetic powers are always a plus.
  • Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun - I'll probably give this one a try and see how it strikes me...hard to call with romance shows.
  • Kamisama Kiss - For some reason, I've always had a problem with anthropomorphized animal characters...As long as they don't overdo it, I might be okay.
  • Litchi DE Hikari Club - So the premise of this show sounds pretty awesome, but the picture is kinda...much. I know there are a few shows I've liked despite initially being put off by the chart picture, so I have high hopes.
  • Chou Soku Henkei Gyrozetter - Transformers!! While a fun part of my childhood, I think I might do better to avoid this show.
  • Jormungand Perfect Order - More Loco Coco...I can live with that.
  • Wooser no Sono Higurashi - ...moving on...
  • Monsuno - This sounds like Digimon somehow...probably gonna skip this.
  • Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai - While seemingly supernatural, this show could turn out to be very delightfully psychological. I'm really looking forward to watching it for some reason...despite how queasy the ending song makes me feel.
  • Hayate no Gotoku - Well, if by some miracle, I catch up on all other seasons of this show before the season starts next week, then maybe I'll watch it >.>
  • Gintama - see Hayate no Gotoku
  • BTOOM - wait...stuck in a video game? Where have I seen this before? Oh well, I'll check it out.
  • Hidamari Sketch x Honeycomb - I'll pass.
  • Busou Shinki - maybe...just maybe. The fact that they're tiny living toys does put me off a bit.
  • Zetsuen no Tempest - The picture gives me BL vibes already...I dunno...
  • K - not much information about this show, so I'll probably watch it just to see what it's actually about.
  • Onii-chan Dakeko Ai Sae Areba Kankei Nai yo ne - This feels like a bad idea.
  • JoJo's Bizarre Adventure - I'll consider this, but I never really had much interest in this series.
  • To Love-Ru Darkness - No...no further questions.
  • Bakuman 3 - Finally we get to the fun arc.
  • Haitai Nanafa - Getting a lot of magical girl vibes from this...maybe not.
  • Little Busters - I look forward to this...never did get the chance to check out the visual novel, but watching in anime form is so much more convenient (I hate collecting endings).
  • Sukitte Ii na yo - more romance...wheeeeeeee
  • Code:Breaker - I've read a little bit of the manga for this series...I quite enjoy it, so I look forward to this. More psychic powers!
  • Oshiri Kajiri Mushi - I refuse.
  • Cross Fight B-Daman - Nope...next.
  • Magi - I might watch this, but I feel like I'll miss out on a lot of references, which is slightly depressing.
  • Teekyuu - Is this Softenni?
  • Ixion Saga DT - I'm getting frightening flashbacks of Shining Hearts...let's go for it.
  • Aikatsu - What the...a card game with idols? How does that even work? I must know...
  • Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo - Seems to be fairly anticipated, so let's do it.
  • Girls und Panzer - I'm thinking...Upotte?
  • Medaka Box Abnormal - I watched the first season, so I might as well, right?
  • Psycho-Pass - Sounds pretty cool...futuristic stuff. Gives a kind of Minority Report feel...could be good.
  • Robotics;Notes - Looking forward to this one.
  • Seitokai no Ichizon - well, I watched the original...so why not?
  • Hiiro no Kakera S2 - NO...NEVER AGAIN
  • Initial D Fifth Stage - see Hayate no Gotoku
  • Aoi Sekai no Chuusin de - Nintendo Empire? Oh god...I have to do it so I can poke fun...I just have to...

Yup...this looks promising. A quick touch on the movie side, I'm going to go see the first two Madoka movies being aired in America...I know they're recap, but it'll still be cool, right? Hope I don't get tainted by all the other crazy people there (looking at you, Feal). Thoughts? Disagreements? What's your list?

Why are you insulting Chuunibyou AWESOME ending song? It reminds me of the greatness of Kill Me Baby...

    oh my poor innocent ears...

    Sept. 27, 2012, 4:51 p.m.

Hey, think on this situation from a positive light. At least we are not going to get Kill Me Baby season two! :D

It'll be interesting to hear your thoughts on Code:Breaker. I've heard mixed things, but if you've been enjoying it then it'll be very nice to hear how it does. Though I probably won't start out with it, since it's a pretty packed season right now.

I also love how you've just resigned yourself to watching Medaka Box Abnormal out of habit.

Compared to last Fall Season, I feel that this one is pretty subdued for the fact that there isn't many shows that interested me except for three (Last year had Fate/zero, Ika Musume 2, Working!! and Idolmaster (continued from the summer). Then again, I may be proven wrong as I do add stuff after a few weeks, but I want to keep it at 4 the max because it's my last semester for my undergraduate studies...

As for what I'm watching: Little Busters, Chuunibyou Demo Koi ga Shitai, Seitokai no Ichizon (2nd Season).

    Sept. 28, 2012, 9:38 a.m.

Well, not too much started in the summer, so I suppose there wasn't much that could be done. I'll do my usual thing of watching as much as I can, of course.

    Looks pretty solid to me...

hmm waiting for code:breaker it is nice to see people that deserve it get burned to death especially when those kind of people is basically untouchable by normal law...well the manga got ridiculous as time pass but if they are just going to animate till 100-120 chapter of the manga it shouldn't be bad such a good beginning too but after a while the protagonist become completely different...

    Sept. 30, 2012, 8:16 a.m.

I didn't get too far, but it definitely seemed cool

"Bakuman 3 – Finally we get to the fun arc." - yes!! :D the Nanamine-arc is my fave in the manga. XD Psycho-Pass does seem pretty cool with the futuristic stuff and the art style... "Hiiro no Kakera S2 – NO…NEVER AGAIN" - HAHA. makes me wonder, were you able to finish S1?

gotta agree that this season is really promising. with so much good series, I don't even know how I'm going to keep up.

    Sept. 30, 2012, 11:17 a.m.

yeah...definitely the best arc for Bakuman I have high hopes for Psycho-Pass no...I refused to continue watching >.>

    Oct. 2, 2012, 1:27 a.m.

I've been following the anime without reading any of the manga so I'm not quite sure what you mean by "fun arc". But after a second arc in which everyone tried so hard and generally didn't get good results with their manga I sure am hoping for some awesome success stories. And maybe a little more romance, because the series sure needs more of that.

    aww...you're missing out D:
