Arcana Famiglia First Impressions

I decided to check this show out. It seems to center around a Mafia-esque organization called Arcana Famiglia, where some of the members have acquired psychic powers, manifested in a contract with an Arcana. It also seems as though the events of the show will feature a demonstration of these powers through a sort of tournament, the Arcana Duello, pitting these people against each other in order to become the successor of the head position. Our main character is Felicita, contracted with the Lovers Arcana. She's been offered up as a prize of the Arcana Duello against her will.

The opening theme for this show is a pretty decent song, but I wish the vocal and guitar balanced better. I'd say the ending theme sounds better (as in I'd rather listen to it). As for the show itself, my first theory is that Felicita will join in on this tournament to prove herself somehow. The other possibility is that she just sits back and lets either Liberta or Nova win (they seem to be the primary love interests for her), which is a bit more boring. I'm always a fan of psychic powers, so my curiosity is piqued.

Out of the powers already revealed, invisibility seems the best to me, but I want to see what the others are. Also, although Liberta's power activated, it's not clear what it is. Maybe he was able to escape Pace by becoming ethereal? Or maybe negating another power? I'm willing to give this show a shot...see where it goes.

I think the jury's still out on this show for me. It certainly still has the ability to be good, now that we've gotten past the not so subtle exposition dialogue...I think this'll be best if it turns into a "tournament" kind of thing, though the next episode preview doesn't seem indicative of that. Honestly, the harem material seems a little too standard, so I'm hoping it stands out with some good action.

I'm glad there's an actual competition going on...watching the family solve problems in the city would have been pretty boring. Let's see how long I can ignore the harem stuff.

Hard to tell how good this show will be after just this one episode. The characters look like they could be interesting, but it all depends on how they develop and how many of them fall in love with the main heroine. I'm hoping the later Arcana powers are a bit more creative, though.

sigh...those two are enough. We don't need everyone falling in love with her

The episode was interesting enough to hold my interest, and I am curious to see some more. Not much to say about any of the characters yet. I'm hoping the show will be able to focus on a few of them in order to flesh them out, make them less generic. Pretty basic plot setup, but in the right hands there's a lot of fun that can be had.

Well, there are 20 Arcana, so I doubt there's time to focus on all of them. I'm sure the ones introduced in this first episode will be fleshed out more. I'm at least curious what their powers are.
