Fate/Zero Episode 19

The flashback finishes up this week...holy crap, no wonder Kiritsugu's so messed up. Rather than clinging to the possibility of Natalia being able to get out of the plane situation alive, he sacrifices her to prevent the spread of the bees infesting the plane. It's something that Natalia points out that Kiritsugu is able to shoot despite what his feelings tell him, which we know comes from his inability to kill Shirley. Natalia praises it, but it's pretty arguable whether it's a good or bad quality. Kiritsugu is able to put the mission before everything, but this makes him an almost literal killing machine. Still, the heroics conversation he has with Natalia shows that his humanity is still there.

Now that this background stuff is done, we can get back into the Grail War. It was nice to see Kiritsugu's past (he almost seemed to be Natalia's Maiya or something), but I wonder what this implies about the pacing of the last few episodes. Still four Servants to go (I assume that the next episode's title of "Return of the Assassin" refers to Kirei, but it could actually be Assassin). Who will drop next? I'd prefer for it to be Berserker...could end up being Rider though. I think it would be funny for Waver to make it so close to the end because of how he's the only who's not a trained killer or something.

It was somewhat quite saddening and too dark...

(he almost seemed to be Natalia’s Maiya or something)

Exactly. Kiritsugu trained Maiya the same way he was trained by Natalia. Quite sad to see that this episode was released on Mother's Day. Kudos to ufotable for making the flashback better than in the novel. Seeing Natalia smiling before she died was wonderfully done imo.

Btw, Assassin is really dead. He was already absorbed by Iri and won't come back. :D

Natalia's sacrifice was noble and only shows Kerry's determination to kill in order to save everyone. I wonder if Waver will be shot down next if Saber is to battle Rider.

Waver is definitely an easier target than Rider

But Rider's loyalty is the same as Caster's. I hope they fight properly.

Waver Velvet disassembles the Holy Grail in one of Fate Stay Night's endings. Waver survives this Heavens Feel.

It refers to Kiritsugu, since he was getting kinda soft and all. (First half of Fate/Zero - he evacuates the building before bombing, effectively alerting his enemies for the sake of saving those people and he also breaks down and tells Irisviel they should just runaway.)

The remaining servants won't take their sweet time to go down, but I'm actually also concerned with the pacing. I mean, they still have most of the fourth novel to adapt, which is the longest, not to mention it has the best fights yet (that deserve awesome animation and plenty of screen time) and some dialogs they'd better not skip on. The epilogue will probably need one entire episode to be adapted too... BUT, ufotable has been doing a darn good job, so I have faith in them.
