Tsuritama Episode 5

Character development is the name of the game this week...mostly for Yuki, partly for Akira.  On the Yuki side, working on the fishing boats gets him much more comfortable around people. He's gaining self-confidence, so hopefully we don't have to see that ridiculous face as much. As for Akira, we're seeing his rejection of friendship, but he shows a bit more of a fun side of himself...you know, when he's not talking with Tapioca (at least I hope he was talking to Tapioca).

This show seems to be heading close to the end of the setup phase, after which it will likely become a lot more serious. Honestly, I can't tell whether this is a good thing or a bad thing...story is nice, but I like how goofy the show is. Oh well...Akira still needs to be turned, so I guess we still have some time. One final random note...is fishing like how it's portrayed in this show for real? Seems pretty serious with all that talk of polarized lenses and whatnot (which make sense to reduce the glare of the sun on the water...mwahaha enjoy your dose of science).

I don't know about realism but going by Wikipedia angling is a pretty serious business. This article is only about reels: ttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fishing_reel

Enjoyed this week's episode a lot more than I thought I would.

"One final random note…is fishing like how it’s portrayed in this show for real?"

I have done a little fishing and with regards to the techniques, some of them are in fact real. Although, in real life, it is far less exciting more than it is stoically waiting. It is not for everyone. My brother might have a different opinion, since he has actually gone deep sea fishing opposed to me on a pier...
