Space Brothers

Praise the almighty afro! The sponge that will bring Pico back! That rover’s coming along pretty quickly…and by that, I mean it’s basically done. Anyone else think it would be funny if it just randomly exploded during the competition? I mean…more likely they’ll take like second or third place, but who doesn’t enjoy a good explosion?

Looks like Mutta is gonna learn more about Pico now that he’s drinking with him and Vince. Then he can save Pico! Somehow. It sounded like Pico was planning to quit once his parachute deployed for Hibito’s return to Earth, so I’m guessing Mutta will have something to say about that.

Oh yeah…this is all pretty straightforward. As expected, Pico is actually a great engineer…he’s just been screwed by Brian’s death. It’s interesting that he was even able to make the parachute for Hibito’s moon trip after what happened. You could argue that he has the drive to get it right this time, but if that were the case, why is he still moping about Brian’s death?

Yeah…Mutta’s gotta find a way to get Pico to join them in their design. He’s just like that…he’ll get it done somehow. I guess he’ll turn the switch on or something…

Finally the recaps are done…and the survival training is done too. Now, it’s time to make a rover…fun fun. I dunno about you guys, but I’m hoping Mutta’s team makes a ball-shaped rover that yells “SPAAAAAAACE” when it goes around. Kinda fitting for a show like this, right?

Anyway, I’m sure they’re going to find out that Pico was actually some sort of genius or something…then he’ll “turn his switch on” and they’ll end up making something amazing with his help. Seems like pretty standard stuff. And I guess Mutta gets no break from what Amanti saw.

Well, the recap has caught up with the current story finally…that should be last of them. Next week, back to survival training.

Sometimes in life, a show has been running long enough that they decide you’ve forgotten what has happened. When this happens, the stork brings along a recap episode…and everyone just skips through it. It doesn’t even make it to the second exam…I’m getting worried that there will be much more.

At least the recap episode brought along a new opening and ending…I wasn’t a real fan of the old ones. I like the new opening…the new ending is alright too (I can see it growing on me because of its style). Next week…a flashback for the Hibito side? Looks like a boring couple of weeks.

I guess that’s it for Nitta’s little aside. I’m surprised they never actually talked to each other…the little brother doesn’t even try again with the call. He’s just okay now and they never talk. I guess Nitta’s too cool for teary conversations with his brother.

What’s going on in the preview? Is next week basically all flashbacks? Because the scenes all look familiar and they’re not in the desert. Are they going to be last place? And now Mutta’s back on Amanti’s prediction…what exactly is it related to? I’m mostly curious because it’s probably something nowhere near as bad as Mutta thinks.

Mutta and Nitta finally have their bonding moment after all this time together. That guy’s been a mystery for a while now…though the little brother thing became more obvious when Amanti made her prediction. I’m a bit surprised Nitta missed the call, but I guess there’s still more to the story, so he needs to tell it to Mutta before they talk.

Next week seems pretty straightforward to me…they’ll talk about the little brother a bit more and he’ll try to call again. Somehow realizing on his own that he doesn’t resent his older brother or something. Then everyone will be a happy family again…

So they gave Mutta the gun, huh? He’s the most observant of the group, so it’s probably for the best. The question is whether he can accurately shoot it…of course, the more important question is whether he will actually need it. I’m actually surprised they weren’t all equipped with knives or something…seems like standard stuff for survival.

Anyway, I guess Nitta dropped his phone when Mutta tackled him earlier. I guess the call from who I presume is his younger brother is pretty important to him if he wants to drop all progress for the day to backtrack. I knew there had to be a reason for that scene of Mutta knocking him down…anyway, I guess next week Mutta will go back with him to try and help. Shouldn’t the leader stay with the group, though?

The survival training has begun. And it’s a race through the desert. They’re really trying to milk this fortune teller thing by putting Amanti in the same group…now Mutta will continue to agonize over the prediction. Looks like the important part of this training exercise is the leadership stuff.

I wonder if Kenji realizes how strong of a leader he is…and is trying to give the team a good start. He’s probably not like that…just wants to get ahead. Next week is Nitta’s turn…which looks like it will be rough. His behavior seems somewhat similar to Bold based on the preview. Looks like we might find out more about the little brother situation…wonder if the group will find out as Mutta attacks him.
